101st Airborne operation in Western Quang Tri and Thua Thien Provinces
that ran from 1 Apr 1970 to 5 Sept 1970. It was a joint operation between the 101st Airborne Division and the ARVN 1st
Infantry Division. Its purpose was to regain the initiative in the mountains east of the A Shau Valley. The fighting was
heavy throughout the entire period, but the intensity steadily increased during late June and early July culminating with
the battle for FSB Ripcord.
